ClassAdLister is better suited to advanced users and advanced sellers. This is not an app for beginners. If you find an issue please send an email to classadlister@gmail.com.

ClassAdLister requires an Android device, iPhone is not supported. If you would like to use ClassAdLister on your PC you may install an emulator like bluestacks, but it is not recommended because pretty much all of these companies that make emulators are known to install malware and viruses when they get the chance. It is sad. ClassAdLister is a local app with no server component, so there are no privacy concerns as there is no mechanism to acquire any of your information or what you do while using ClassAdLister.

Installation: On most Android devices go to your phone’s Settings.

Go to Security & privacy > More settings.

Tap on Install apps from external sources.

Select the browser you want to download APK files from.

Toggle Allow app installs ON.

On Samsung devices:

Go to your phone’s Settings.

Go to Biometrics and security > Install unknown apps.

Select the browser you want to download APK files from.

Toggle Allow app installs ON.

A note on using help. When using ClassAdLister you will notice little blue question marks that offer additional help for that specific field or page. Rather than trying to tap the little blue question mark, you may also just tap the word in front of the little blue question mark which is much easier.

Setup:

In order to maximize the amount of time you can save with Classadlister, you will first need to go through a simple set-up process for each of the marketplaces that you plan to sell on.

From the main inventory screen, click on the yellow "folder" button at the top of the screen. It will be on the right side, to the left of the red "exit" button, and to the right of the barcode "scanner" icon.

This will pull up a submenu titled "Manage". From this menu, select "Settings".

Here you will find a pulldown list of all supported sites on Classadlister. This is where you will save all of your login information to speed up the sign in and listing process. You may also enter a phone number, postal code, discount percentage for non-eBay sites, description header and footer, as well as enable and disable sites.

To start, select a marketplace from the pulldown menu. Tap the red "+" button to add a new login for the selected site. In the "login" field, enter your login name. It can be an email address or username for sites that support both, or just the username for sites (like eCrater) that don't use email addresses. For eBay, be sure and use an email address or you will likely get an invalid Paypal address error.

Keep in mind that Classadlister supports an infinite number of sign-ins per marketplace, so you can still use this if you have multiple stores within a site.

Next, enter your password. If you want to see your password, click the "Password" button and the password will be revealed at the bottom of the screen. Entering the password is optional and you may enter it manually when listing an item.

Postal Code: Enter your 5-digit postal code here. It will be auto filled for sites that support postal codes. For countries other than the US, enter the appropriate code here.

Phone Number: Optionally, enter your customer service number or contact number here. This will be filled in as contact info for marketplaces that support it.

Description Header: Have a word, sentence, paragraph, or phrase that you want to appear on EVERY listing under the particular site you're on? Enter it here. It will prepend whatever is entered in the description field.

Description Footer: Same as the header, only the footer will appear at the bottom of the description of every item you post.

Custom eBay/eBid SiteId: By default, Classadlister will take you to the main page of whatever marketplace you choose to post to. Using this function can point the app to a different page on that site, if you wish. If you live outside the U.S., it can also be useful for making your country's eBay or eBid site your default. A list of applicable codes can be found under help for the settings page by tapping the word "Settings" to the left of the blue question mark.

Site Enabled: Don't plan on selling on a particular marketplace? Simply uncheck the box.  Now it won't pop up under the list of sites you post to when you go to list an item. If you want to add it at a later date, simply go back to settings, and check the box again.

Site Discount Percentage: Some sites charge a commission when you sell an item, some do not. If you would like to list items at a discount, you may enter a percentage here and it will be deducted from the price before entering the price field for the site.

Obtain eBay developer program credentials: It is highly recommended everyone sign up for the free eBay developer program. It is free to register, and you may use the same username and password on the eBay developer site as the main eBay site (A bit easier to remember that way), but keep in mind they may be different. Just tap Obtain eBay developer credentials and register from the register tab. You do not have to name your application ClassAdLister. Call it whatever you want, as it doesn’t matter. Upon registration completion, and then logging back in, ClassAdLister will retrieve everything except the user token.

In order to get the user token you must login to your production eBay account. To do that, scroll down to where it says production and tap User Tokens. You may need to turn your device sideways at this point if it is difficult to see the login button. Select Auth n' Auth and tap the Sign in to Production button.

Your credentials will be automatically populated and you may tap the Agree button and ClassAdLister will automatically pull your eBay token.

Now ClassAdLister has everything needed to login to your eBay account and use the eBay API for searching, importing, and listing products. If something goes wrong, you may always manually copy and paste the needed fields into ClassAdLister. In addition, you may do this whenever you wish. I.E. it does not hurt to retrieve your registered tokens over and over again if something doesn't go quite right. Just follow the process minus the initial registration part whenever you wish. eBay tokens do not last forever, so at some point you will need to pull a new eBay token anyway.

When finished making changes to a particular marketplace, tap the green checkmark save button to save your changes.

Using the scanner to enter items:

Tap the scanner button that looks like a barcode to use your device’s camera to search for items after pointing the camera at a barcode. ClassAdlister will search for your item using eBay and eBid if eBay is configured under settings. As much that can be found about the item will automatically be entered and your item will be inserted into the database without having to enter the information manually. You may also put the scanner in external scanner mode to manually copy and paste barcodes by selecting external scanner from the home screen’s context menu. This is helpful when entering items from barcode searches found on the web. If you install a third party application that takes over as the default scanner app, it may cause issues as ClassAdLister might try to use it. If this happens the only fix we know is to uninstall the nefarious app that registered as the default scanner and just use Barcode Scanner from Google Play.

Manually enter items:

Tap the orange plus button from the home screen. Enter the information about your item and save it. If you have questions about a field, just tap the name of the field and a help screen will appear giving information about what the field is used for, which varies by site. This built-in help is on every screen in ClassAdlister and is the best way to learn the nuances of what ClassAdLister can do.

Listing and editing Items:

Click on an item from the home page and tap the blue classadlister button. Select the site you would like to list the item on. To edit anything about the item just change the value for the particular field and tap the save button. Please keep in mind that editing an item in ClassAdlister does not change the item on any site in which it is already listed. You would need to unlist the item and then list it again, or manually sync the item by changing whatever you changed in ClassAdlister on the site also. ClassAdlister is good at listing items, anything beyond that you need to enter manually, like picked, packed, shipped stages etc. ClassAdLister will automatically adjust the quantity on hand if you enter a “sold” journal entry in the listing journal. In addition, ClassAdLister will not unlist an item on another site when it sells on some other site. Use the listing journal to keep track of all the sites you listed the item on, then when it sells you know which sites you need to unlist it from if the quantity on hand is now zero. The listing journal is very handy at keeping you from selling things you do not have. Use it to your advantage. ClassAdlister will try to enter the listed journal entry automatically if it can, but always verify in case it isn't able. After an item sells it is often tempting to delete it. You may want to wait for a reasonable amount of time before you do that in case you get a return.

Taking and editing pictures.

Tap the camera button to use your phone’s camera to snap a picture of your item. It will undoubtedly turn out to be sideways because that is just how things seem to roll. Long press the image to rotate it so it is in the right orientation. You may also add images from your phone taken previously by tapping the file button. Once you have taken all the images for your item it is a good idea to crop them all. The picture is probably much larger than the item and it will need to be cropped. Tap the more button and select edit. Tap the crop tab and drag the edges of the picture until all the background is gone. Tap save. A new picture will be added that is now cropped to the end of the picture list. Long-press the left arrow button to move to the first picture in the list. Tap more->Delete to get rid of that picture because you just made it better by cropping it. Now you will be viewing the second picture you took. Crop it using the same process, and delete the original. After following this process your images will be in the correct order, and they will all be cropped. Once you get used to this process it is extremely quick to crop all your images. If you would like to reorder your images you will notice when scrolling through your images the Reorder button becomes enabled. You may now play the game of swapping that image forward in the list until they are in the order you like. You may also email or share your pictures by tapping the more button and selecting Share/Export. If you install a third party image editing application there is no guarantee it will work properly with ClassAdLister. You can try, but using Google Photos is recommended. Cropping your pictures is also a good way to add more pictures. You may use cropping as a picture zoom in feature. Just crop the top half or the bottom half of the picture and you now have more pictures where some of them are zoomed in shots of your item.

Sorting, Searching and Grouping Options on the home page:

By tapping the green search button from the home page you may easily filter your items regardless of how many you have entered. Enter some text and any item that contains that text will be displayed. If you would like to filter by location, enter a location or select from the location list. Your list will be ordered by whatever is selected in the order by list. Ordering by last modified date can be handy when you are not filtering at all so you may see the last item you worked on. You may also group your items by selecting a site from the group by list. This will display your items grouped by any activity found in the listing journal for that item for that site. To clear a search filter long-press the green magnifying glass button. Filter’s show in the title bar after the word ClassAdLister in parentheses. If you are not filtering, it shows how many total items are in the database. To stop grouping by site, tap the green magnifying glass and select “Do not group” from the grouping list. From the home screen, if you long press an item it will display an option to filter by that particular item’s location so you may see which items you have in that location. Another time-saver that occurs by long-pressing an item and filtering by that location is automatic location field population. After you enter your first item for a location, go ahead and filter by that location so as you add more items to that location the location field is automatically populated for you.

Reports/Tasks:

ClassAdlister has many reports that can be useful for analyzing your inventory. Reports/Tasks may be accessed by tapping the yellow folder button from the home screen. You can even email someone a location report if just using ClassAdLister for inventory control. What all is in that huge trunk in the attic? Hold on dear, I will email it to you. What did you lose when your house burned down? Hold on sir, I have a report right here that also contains what each item is worth. Tap the reports label from the reports page to learn about what each report or task does. Speaking of tasks, don’t forget to run the database backup task regularly and backup your database to google drive in case you lose your phone if you aren’t using a backup service. You may also use the backup task to transfer your database to a new device. Then on the new device use the restore task.

Custom Fields:

Custom fields are a way to add information about an item that is not already contained in ClassAdLister. These fields are for your own benefit, and are not populated on any site. The custom fields screen may be accessed by tapping the yellow folder from the home screen. Enter a custom field and give it a color, and a match value. If you want the item to display the color regardless of what you enter, type in >0. Otherwise the color selected does not show on the home screen unless it matches what you enter when editing the item. This can be handy for a visual representation on the home screen when an item is in some state that you want to be able to easily see. Once a custom field is entered, a new section will be added to the edit screen for all items where you may enter custom text for that item for any custom field you have entered. Be aware that adding custom fields can cause the scrolling on the homepage to be a bit slower, so don’t add too many.

Location Management:

If you move your inventory from one location to another, this is where you may change the location of every item in bulk. Location management is accessed by tapping the yellow folder from the home screen. Select a location, enter the new location and tap the modify button. All items that are in that location have now done an inventory move transaction. If you would like to purge a location you may select a location and tap the purge button. All items in that location will be removed, and there is no getting them back without doing some sort of database restore from a previous backup. Sometimes two locations are combined into one location, so it is ok to use an existing location for the move to another location. If you would like to create one new item as a wholesale lot item for every item that is in a particular location, tap the Create Wholesale lot button for the selected location.

Get your barcode items on google shopping:

Many of the sites supported by ClassAdLister get a significant number of hits not from searching for items on their site, but from links to the site from Google Shopping. Many sites export a feed to google shopping and google shopping places a link to your item pointing to your site listing and that is how your item gets views. eBid and eCrater are a couple of low commission marketplaces that do a good job of exporting to google shopping. Make sure you enter the MPN and Brand for your item or it may not show up on google shopping. Tap the search button after listing your items on one of these sites and check the google shopping link from time to time to make sure your item is showing up. It takes a few days for it to show up on google shopping after listing. On eCrater, make sure you tap on the Google attributes tab so ClassAdLister may automatically populate the proper attributes. For eBid, it is recommended to use free shipping as their shipping calculator may not calculate properly from your home zip code. For eCrater it is recommended to use the weight matrix so your item will appear less expensive on google shopping until they actually click on the link and shipping is added at eCrater checkout. This will keep your item higher on the list when customers are looking for the lowest priced item and you will get more sales. eCrater also supports stripe which is a very efficient system for collecting payments from credit cards.

Poshmark Nuance:

In order to get Poshmark working first download the Poshmark app from Google Play. If you do not, you will not be able to list as the browser will just display a screen that informs you to download the Poshmark app. Once the app is downloaded and you login via the Poshmark app, ClassAdLister will also function properly when listing.

FAQ:

        Question:

Will you ever support Offer Up?

        Answer:

Only if they offer a listing API.

        Question:

Will ClassAdLister Auto Upload in batch?

        Answer:

        No.

        Question:

Are the Custom Fields available with Filtering Criteria in ClassAdLister?

        Answer:

        No.

        Question:

Wondering if there is a way in the table to add international flat shipping for an item. I ship 40% within Canada and 50% to US, so having option to add international shipping could be nice. But I get it, it's only Ebay where shipping can be populated so it may not be worth the amount of effort. But would be nice to have. I use flat US and Canada shipping quite often.

Answer:

It could be done. It will be added to the list.

        Question:

It seems Genymotion is now a paid option. Tried to register with them and never received a confirmation. Is this still the preferred emulator for using ClassAdLister on the desktop or is there another one?

        Answer:

Most seem to like Bluestacks much better. It is easy to install and use, but unfortunately may leave you open for malware and virus. Be careful.

        Question:

Can anyone help me out...I'm having a problem when I go to upload the images to our inventory.  The error Says:

"Unable to read CSV file.

java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorEception: Trust Anchor for certification path not found."

It happens on both my emulator as well as my actual Note 20 device.

The image files are all hosted on our own server, and it only occurs with the image files not with the rest of the listing.  Can anyone assist?

        Answer:

Here is a stackoverflow on the issue:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6825...connection

Your server is not trusting your SSL connection from the Android device basically.

After you read through the stackoverflow my guess is you are missing the intermediate certificates on your server.

Use the given link:

https://www.digicert.com/help/

put it in the address you have configured for your images and send it to your server manager. I agree with the post, your server manager should be appreciative.

        Question:

I imported my inventory from eBay but the description is full of html. How do I fix it?

        Answer:

From the menu, select remove html from description. Then touch up anything else that it didn’t fix.
